Directions: Event is at Lake Mead National Recreation Area (LMNRA). From Las Vegas take I-515 South (also known as: Hwy 93/95). Interstate stops at Railroad Pass Casino and Hwy 93 continues through Boulder City. Go down the large hill and turn left at the Alan Bible Visitor Center onto Lakeshore Drive. This point is exactly four miles from Hoover Dam. Boulder Beach and the transition area are two miles down this road next to the Boulder Beach Ranger station. Timing by ChampionChip. Course Description

The Swim: LMNRA Boulder Beach swim with the transition area next to water. We expect the water temperature will be 76° F (25° C). Wetsuits therefore will be triathletes choice. Yes or no, you decide. There will be plenty of daylight for the start of this race. Start on North boat ramp and finish on the South boat ramp. WETSUITS OK.

The Bike: NEW Olympic COURSE: We have eliminated the dog leg. One loop on Lakeshore Road Go West on Lakeshore Drive to all the way to the West Toll Booth and turnaround. Go PAST Boulder Beach turnoff all the way to the East Toll Booth for one mile and then return to Boulder Beach. Tip: This course has rolling hills with one decent hill. Sprint COURSE: West on Lakeshore Drive. Change from last year: Turnaround at 5.5 mile post and continue back to Lakeshore Drive Eastbound. Go Past Boulder Beach turnoff all the way to the East Toll Booth and return to Boulder Beach. Tip: This course is relatively flat with some small hills. 70.3 Half Course: Follows Lakeshore Drive and turn right onto Northshore Road to the turnaround at mile post 18.1. Course then repeats DIRECTLY back to the transition area .There are no water aid stations on the olympic or sprint bike course. Please bring at least two water bottles with you. 70.3 Half bike course has two water, food and gatorade station at start of Northshore Rd and the turnaround. Cyclists are personally responsible for the proper working condition of their bike. Bike helmets are required. No drafting. Athletes must remain a minimum of two bike lengths behind competitor unless passing. Violation results in disqualification. Traffic will not be stopped for this event, except at the turnarounds and then at the discretion of the police. Please obey the police and safety personnel at intersections and turnarounds.

The Run: A scenic run along beach on packed roads. Sprint run goes up Hemenway Harbor road for 50 yards and turnaround. International run goes up Hemeway Harbor Rd just past the toll booth and turnaround. 70.3 Half run continues into the historic railroad trail . This portion of the run course is on the "Six Tunnels Half Marathon Course". Water aid stations are every 1.4 miles with both water and Gatorade. Race numbers must be worn and visible from the front. Water aid stations every 1 mile. Run defensively and follow all instructions of safety personnel. Remember, the runner always has the right of way. Traffic will not be stopped for this event. Please obey the police and safety personnel at intersections and turnarounds.

Special Notes:

  • 9/26 Early Bird Packet Pick Up: Las Vegas Cyclery . They will accept your bike shipment and assemble for the event and pack it up again afterwards. Call the pros for your bike questions. Click on below logo or call 702.596.2953. 8221 W. Charleston Las Vegas on Friday Sep 26 from 3-6 PM. This is for the convenience of our triathletes who have completed this event and haven't any questions. There are no info sessions, no expo, just a easy and quick pick up and run.
  • 9/27 Regular Packet Pick UP: Hacienda Hotel & Casino Hwy 93 Boulder City from 2-6 PM. Expo and Info sessions on the half hour. We strongly suggest athletes to attend an information session held on Saturday at the Hacienda Hotel, although it is not required. Race day packet pick up is OK!

    Lake Mead National Recreation Area: Race course is within a national park: LMNRA and charges a $5 entrance fee. Full Service Campground: Camp right next to the transition area with your tent or RV at LMNRA Campground. More info available at 1.702.293.2540.
    Awards: Overall and Masters - Alabaster Sculptures first place each division. Age group every 5 years, three deep - plaques. Both male and female. Relays: trophies three deep. Can't make the awards ceremony? Don't worry we mail age group awards.

  • Information Sessions are every hour on the half hour. Wave starts posted. Topo and satellite maps available.
  • Event specific: No advertising T-shirt,LV bike water bottle, nifty LV finisher medals. Also prizes, valuable trophies, food, drink and giveaways.
  • Five year age groups with plaques three deep.Sprint awards start at 14 and under, Olympic and Half start at 19 and under to 85+.
  • Awards Ceremony: After each event under the picnic area.. We also mail awards for those who do not attend ( but not alabaster sculptures).
    While in Vegas for our tri, check out the Interbike Show. There is only one Las Vegas Triathlon®.

  • Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds. You can cancel up to 15 days prior to MME event for a transfer (less any Active.com charges) of funds to another MME event within the next 12 months.. With 14 days or less before event, there are no transfers. If you transfer, you must declare a future event. You can switch divisions at any time prior to race day for a $5 administration fee. Don't you wish all events had this liberal policy?

  • USA Triathlon: This is a USAT sanctioned event. You must be a annual member of USAT and have a valid card with you OR pay a one day event fee of $10 at packet pick up. Buy it on-line at: USA Triathlon. You must have photo ID to pick up your race packet. No one but registered athlete can pick up packet.
