Description/Location: This is the 5th oldest triathlon West of the Mississippi River. And here is why: It is The most beautiful course in the entire Southwest. Right after the monsoon season with flora in full bloom. Our 26th annual event with fun, prizes and a great course. Nine miles south of Flagstaff, AZ on Lake Mary Road at mile post 333. THE SWIM: This is the City of Flagstaff reservoir: Upper Lake Mary. Average lake temperature for the last 8 years has been exactly 71° F. Wetsuits OK. Wave starts. To increase tourism,
the City of Flagstaff now supplies it citizens with well water rather
then depleting this beautiful lake.  |

THE BIKE:Cut off time for the half swim and bike is 4:45 hours. You will not be allowed to start the run past this time. Is there a more beautiful
bike course in the West? Out and back course on paved roads with wide bike shoulders. Olympic and
half iron courses has three consecutive hills near the turnaround. Beautiful
vistas with lake views the whole way. Sprint course is relatively flat.
70.3 Half: Hilly course with nothing steeper than 395 feet and great views
of San Francisco Peaks. Race numbers must be attached to your bike frame.
Cyclists are personally responsible for the proper working condition of
their bike. Bike helmets are required. elevations.
THE RUN: Out and back run on paved roads along
beautiful Lake Mary. Olympic course climbs a decent hill (385') and sprint
course is flat. 70.3 Half iron course climbs the same hill and then is flat
for 10 miles.
Race numbers must be worn and visible from the front. Water aid stations
are every 1.2 miles. Run defensively and follow all instructions of safety
personnel. Traffic will not be stopped for this event, except at the intersections and turnarounds and then at the discretion of the safety personnel. elevations

THE WEATHER: Could be a little cool in the early morning for Phoenix types, but for all others: perfect for racing. The Flagstaff monsoon season should also be through, but check the local weather forecast for rain. Check below under "links" for current weather conditions. USA Tri Membership: This is a USAT sanctioned event. You must be an annual member and have your membership card with you OR pay a one-day event fee of $10 at packet pickup.You may also purchase it on line through USAT an annual membership for $39.
Packet Pick Up: Friday 8/10 Absolute Bike 202 E. Route 66 in downtown Flagstaff from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. No info sessions, no maps just a quick pick up and run. Saturday 8/11 Late Registration EXPO & Race Packet Pick Up is at race site from 2 PM to 5:00 PM. All athletes must present a picture ID to pick up their packet. You can only get your own packet, not any other competitors packet. All timing chip pick up is on race mourning. Information session is at 3:30 PM. For the very few who can't make it, please get your packet on event morning at least 45 minutes prior to the start of your event. Your triathlon club is welcome to set up a tent next to the transition area.

- Awards: Age Group and relay awards are plaques with 5 year age groups from 19 and under to 80 plus. Overall and Master division winners receive beautiful alabaster sculptures values at $650 and $350 respectfully. All finishers get finisher medals.
- Cancellation Policy: There are NO REFUNDS. You can cancel up to 15 days prior to event for a TRANSFER to a future SPECIFIC MME event of your choosing within the next 12 months. Within 14 days or less, there are NO TRANSFERSL Please check the countdown timer above the pricing schedule. - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff Run for the Magic and Mountain Man Events have partnered to inaugurate the “Flagstaff Feats of Fortitude” challenge. If you have the fastest combined times for the August 13th Run for the Magic Half Marathon and the August 14th Mountain Man Triathlon (Olympic or Half Ironman distances) you will win free entry into both races in 2012 (nearly a $200.00 value). To entice competitors, Northern Arizona Trail Runners Association will also give a NATRA racing cap to anyone that completes the competition. Race directors will announce the four awards once times are official for both races the week following the event.
